Pricing of materials
Material is inspected on site by an AWS purchasing manager. The purchasing manager will advise on quality requirements for each material and assess the marketability of any new materials the supplier has recently accessed. Photographs and samples are usually taken by the purchasing manager at this point. The AWS purchasing manager will confirm prices to the supplier by fax or e mail after assessing a number of parameters including, quality of material, load weight, distance from port etc. The AWS Purchasing Manager for your area can be contacted by contacting head office on Tel: 0845 678 4500.
Ordering A Materials Collection with AWS
Collections are initiated by the supplier when they either telephone AWS head office in Newcastle - Upon - Tyne or contact their designated AWS purchasing manager. Suppliers have the option of collection by either artic curtain sided vehicle or shipping container.
Logistics of Materials Collections by AWS
Once ordered, a Material Collection Notification is faxed to the supplier by AWS. This confirms type and tons of material to be collected, date and time of collection together with haulier details. It is important to all concerned that the maximum allowable amount of material be safely loaded into each shipment, whether on artic or into a container. This ensures the lowest cost per ton for haulage and reflects through in final price payable to the supplier. Following collection of material by the haulier the supplier faxes back to AWS the Materials Collection Notification detailing any necessary amendments (ie exact tonnage, container number, seal number, etc.)
CCIC Requirements
Should material be loaded into shipping containers for export and the destination is China, there is a requirement by the Chinese customs authorities for 5 CCIC pictures to be taken per container. A shipment of material may not enter China without these pictures. The 5 pictures may be taken by digital camera as the material is loaded into the shipping container. To avoid any delays in shipment these pictures must be promptly e-mailed to AWS head office.
